general description

This sample is a perfect colorless crystal partially gemmeous.

To know more, this sample was acquired as a beryllonite by the Muséum national d'Histoire naturelle. In 1991, a study of this sample allowed the identification of its nature and was also the first identification of a petalite in the pegmatite of Paprok. Since this sample, the pegmatite of Paprok provided new crystals of petalite only in 1996. This new petalite crystals has large sizes (>20 cm).

This sample of petalite, acquired thanks to support from Total, comes from Paprok in Afghanistan.

It is currently exposed in the Treasure Room, within the Gallery of Mineralogy of the Muséum national d’Histoire naturelle.
