general description

This azurite sample shows losangic crystals composed by multiple facets. This specimen is dark blue in color, with some slightly transparent areas. It measures 5.6 x 4.4 x 3.7 cm.

This azurite comes from the mine of Chessy, in the Rhone. It is illustrated page 770 of volume III of the "Mineralogie de la France" from Alfred Lacroix. It was acquired in 1851.

This sample is currently exposed in the Treasure Room, located within the Gallery of Mineralogy of the Muséum national d’Histoire naturelle.
