GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Schoenfliesite is a tin and magnesium hydroxide, formed by weathering within zones of contact metamorphism. It can also be formed on objects containing of tin.

It forms fibrous masses associated with cassiterite or small grains.

It is colourless, but can have a colour brown-more orange. The deposits are rare for this species: Brooks Mountain in Alaska, the district of Pitkäranta in Russia, Sungai Gow in Malaysia, Zlaty Kopec in Czech Republic and Damoshan in the province of Yunnan in China.

The place of conservation of the type of this species (from the Brooks Mountain, Alaska) is not known.
